History of North Wales - The Welsh Princes
Medieval North Wales was ruled by the native Welsh princes, who managed to keep Gwynedd out of Norman contol for over two hundred years. Over this time many battles were fought and many truces and alliances forged and broken.
Owain Gwynedd - Llywelyn ab Iorwerth - Dafydd ap Llywelyn
Llywelyn ap Gruffydd - Dafydd ap Gruffydd

Here I'll be concentrating on the five princes who had the most impact on Welsh history through their dealings with the Norman kings.
- Owain Gwynedd (1100 - 1170)
- Llywelyn ab Iorwerth (Llywelyn Fawr) (1173 - 1240)
- Dafydd ap Llywelyn (1208 - 1246)
- Llywelyn ap Gruffydd (1228 - 1282)
- Dafydd ap Gruffydd (1238 - 1284)
